DESCRIPTION:The Rugby in a bag program provides those who sign up rugby equipment (bags of rugby balls and flags) and teaching direction with the objective of getting the rugby oriented program into as many classrooms as possible.\n\nThrough the program\, players from New Englands professional rugby team (The Free Jacks) will attend a session with the class and speak about their learnings from the game as well as getting involved with the session.\n\nRugby is a sport that promotes ambidexterity\, movement and space identification\, skills that transfer well across sports. DESCRIPTION:The New England Free Jacks today announced the first competition fixtures for the U23 Independents Academy Team. The New England U23 Independents are set to play a home and away double header with Rugby United New York’s U23 side on May 23 and July 3. To prepare for the matches\, the Free Jacks will hold two selection days on May 1 and May 2 to assess and develop players from across New England. \nThe Free Jacks will host North and South selection days on May 1 at Pine Banks\, Malden\, and May 2\, at a location to be confirmed. These selection days will build upon the Free Jacks Academy’s Regional Tracking days in which the Free Jacks Academy staff visited 8 of the 13 Regional Training Groups to work with\, develop and identify local players around New England. Following the ID sessions in May\, a wider training squad will be selected for the following weeks preparation for the spring competition with Rugby United New York. \nProgram Outline\n\n\n\nTime\nSession\nAges\nObjective\n\n\n2:00 – 4:00\nNew England Independents Selection Day\n18 – 23 Women and Men\nLearn\, develop\, compete\, in the Free Jacks Independents to earn selection to the first U23 squad.\n\n\n\n  \nNew England Independents Tracking & Development\nAges: 18 – 23 (Women and Men) \nObjective: To evaluate fundamental skills and physical performance. Train and Develop understanding of the 5 pillars of rugby within the Free Jack way and the accompanying skill sets.
