new england remembers rugby legend, bill good
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Good, a true legend of New England rugby. Bill was a dedicated volunteer, leader, and supporter of the sport. As the founder of MYRO (Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization), and dedicated board member of both USA Rugby, and USA Y&HSR, his impact and legacy in rugby is immeasurable.
Since 2007, Bill has poured his heart and soul into MYRO, personally financing its launch and volunteering countless hours to help it grow. He was a passionate advocate for youth rugby, and his work has helped to introduce thousands of young people to the sport. As founder and president of MYRO, he led the charge for rugby to be officially added into the MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) in 2015. He deeply understood the values rugby taught and was determined to share them with the wider community. The Free Jacks are extremely grateful for his efforts in this mission and strive to continue the work he started. His dedication and love for growing the sport will remain the bedrock for rugby in New England for generations to come.
Bill was also a tireless supporter of USA Rugby and USA Y&HSR. He served on the boards of both organizations, and he was always willing to lend his expertise and support. He certainly embodied the rugby values he so diligently promoted. Bill was a true ambassador for the sport of rugby, and he will be deeply missed by the entire community.
Our thoughts are with Bill’s family and friends during this difficult time.
