Impact Free Jack Honorees Announced for Quincy Day Festival

The New England Free Jacks in partnership with Massachusetts Lottery are thrilled to announce the honorees  of the Impact Free Jack Award for the Quincy Day Festival this weekend, a special honor recognizing individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact in their communities. This award celebrates those who embody the values of service, dedication, and compassion, much like the Free Jacks on and off the field.

The winners will be recognized at the Quincy Day Festival on May 10th, a day to celebrate the impact these individuals have made in New England. We received an overwhelming number of heartfelt nominations, and we are excited to introduce the four remarkable recipients of the award.

Tara Waters

Advocate for Children and Families Battling Cancer

Tara Waters, the mother of the Mighty Quinn, is a passionate advocate for families fighting cancer. Her son Quinn has bravely battled brain cancer twice, and Tara has channeled her personal experiences into raising awareness and supporting families navigating similar challenges. Tara’s dedication to improving the lives of children and families battling cancer has made a profound impact, and she continues to be a beacon of strength and hope for many. Richard McAllister

Head of Special Education, Quincy Public Schools

Richard McAllister has been a steadfast advocate for students and families in the Quincy Public Schools system. As the Special Education Department Head, Richard goes above and beyond to support students and their families, often finding creative solutions for their unique needs. Nominated by Nicole Doyle, who shared that Richard even personally delivers paperwork to homes for families who are unable to pick it up, Richard’s dedication to the well-being of others extends far beyond his professional responsibilities. His unwavering commitment makes him a true community hero.

Darlene and Nick Wilson

Advocates for Epilepsy Research in New England

Darlene and Nick Wilson are tireless advocates for epilepsy research, particularly in honor of their daughter, Emma, who battles a rare form of epilepsy. Through their dedication, the Wilsons have raised nearly $100,000 for epilepsy research, and their involvement in local community programs like Quincy Youth Sports shows their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Darlene also volunteers with the New England Epilepsy Foundation and the Quincy Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Their dedication to both the epilepsy community and local youth sports makes them true pillars of the Quincy community.

Pamela Denholm
Executive Director of the South Shore Food Bank

Pamela Denholm is the Executive Director of the South Shore Food Bank, a position she’s held since the organization’s transformation from the Weymouth Food Pantry. Under Pam’s leadership, the food bank has expanded its services and provided vital support to local communities, especially during the pandemic. Pam’s drive and vision have made a profound impact on food security across the region. As a passionate advocate for those in need, she continues to lead the charge in ensuring that no one goes hungry in the South Shore area.
