SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT ATLANTIC TO HOST PROFESSIONAL RUGBY TEAMS FROM ONTARIO AND BOSTON AT WANDERERS GROUNDS OCTOBER 20, 2018
(HALIFAX, NS) – Sports & Entertainment Atlantic (S|E|A) is pleased to announce that professional international men’s rugby will be coming to the Wanderers Grounds this month! On October 20th, Canada’s first professional men’s rugby team, the Ontario Arrows will play an international match at the revitalized Wanderers Grounds in Halifax against the New England Free Jacks. The Free Jacks, based out of Boston, were recently accepted into Major League Rugby, North America’s professional rugby competition.
“As part of a long term strategy to attract international and national events to our region, S|E|A has worked with stakeholders to bring high level International Men’s Rugby back to the Wanderers Grounds,” said Derek Martin, President of Sports & Entertainment Atlantic. “After welcoming over 6,000 fans to our Canada vs USA match in June, we started right away working on another high quality event and we are very pleased to welcome the Arrows and Free Jacks to Halifax. I am also intrigued at the future possibilities of having pro rugby in Halifax, so this will be a good test.”
The game will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, and tickets are on sale now through Ticket Halifax. Ticket prices range from $10 – $22. In addition to the international match on Saturday, S|E|A has partnered with Rugby Nova Scotia to host the “Wanderers Youth 7s Jamboree” at the Wanderers Grounds on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. as part of the Rugby Nova Scotia Youth Series. Tickets purchased for the International game on Saturday will include entry to the Jamboree on Sunday.
