Showdown: US Eagles Take on Canada in Calgary

The US Men’s Eagles are headed north to Calgary, facing Canada on Friday, August 22nd at 9 p.m. EST for the opening match in the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup. Here’s a preview of your New England Free Jacks taking the pitch on both sides in this historic North American rivalry:

US Eagles

Kaleb Geiger – Loosehead Prop #16
The Free Jacks’ versatile front
rower Kaleb Geiger will play loosehead prop for the Eagles in their 2025 Pacific Nations Cup campaign. Geiger is known across Major League Rugby for his strong scrummaging and physical play. After winning the 2022 MLR Shield with New York, he was selected to start for the US Eagles against Portugal and Georgia in the 2023 Summer Internationals series. Since then, Geiger has made five appearances for the Eagles, most recently against England in July at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. In his 31 appearances with the Free Jacks, Geiger has been a force to be reckoned with. With the strength and speed of a rhino, Geiger charges down the pitch beating the opposition in his path like he did when he scored the winning try against Seattle in Round 8 of the 2024 MLR season. He has won two MLR Championships with the Free Jacks and three total. The Colorado native will come off the bench in the No. 16 shirt against Canada on Friday.

Canada

Cole Keith – Tighthead Prop #3
Cole Keith made his debut for Canada in 2017 against Chile. Over the past five years, the New Brunswicker has established himself as a key member of the Canadian pack, earning 37 caps for his country. He was capped in the 2019 Rugby World Cup when Canada faced Italy in Round 2 and he started against the All Blacks in Round 3. The tighthead prop is a formidable opponent for any opposition front row. In 2021, Keith scored his first try for Canada against Portugal. Two years later, Keith joined the Free Jacks south of the border. In his 33 appearances for the Free Jacks he’s won three MLR Championships.

Piers Von Dadelszen – Lock #4
Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Piers Von Dadelszen is a 6’4” lock/back-row and Canadian international who made his debut against Spain in 2022. The 25-year-old is an Oxford University engineering graduate, and was also part of their prestigious Varsity rugby team from 2020 to 2023. Before his time studying at Oxford, Piers played for the Canadian U18s. Since his debut in 2022, Piers has represented Canada for their senior team on six occasions. In his first season for the Free Jacks, Von Dadelszen scored tries against Miami and San Diego. In his 33 appearances for the Free Jacks he has won two MLR Championships.

Ben LeSage – Inside Center #12

With 37 caps for Canada, Ben LeSage is a seasoned international and influential leader on the Canadian squad. The Calgarian center made his debut for Canada in 2016 against Romania and has since become a key player in the Canadian backline. LeSage’s powerful ball-carrying and defensive authority make him a crucial player in the Canadian outside defense. LeSage scored his first try for Canada in a win versus the US in 2021. In 2023 he joined the Free Jacks and scored in his second appearance. Since then LeSage has scored 32 points in 43 appearances for the Free Jacks, as well as becoming a threepeat champion.

Isaac Olson – Wing #14
A native of Vernon, British Columbia, Isaac Olson made his Canadian international debut in 2021 against Belgium. Olson represented Canada U20s and played for the Pacific Pride Academy before making his move to New England in 2022. In Round 7 of the 2023 season, Olson scored against Utah. The same year Olson scored twice in the same match for his first international tries against Tonga. Most recently he scored this past season against Anthem RC. Olson has made 23 appearances for the Free Jacks and is also a threepeat champion.

Kyle Steeves – Tighthead Prop #18
Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kyle Steeves is a young and strong talent for Canada. He made his debut in 2022 against Namibia and came off the bench against Belgium in July of 2025. Steeves joined the Free Jacks for their most recent season after an impressive 2024 year with Dallas. He scored the game-tying try and teammate Oscar Lennon converted the winning kick against RFC Los Angeles in Round 11 of the 2025 season. He has won one championship with the Free Jacks.
