BOSTON—February 24, 2020— The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) today announced a partnership with Major League Rugby’s New England Free Jacks to host its third annual All-Star Championship. The Championship will take place from May 28 – 30, and will be held at Free Jacks Union Point Stadium in Weymouth, MA.

The tournament will consist of eight men’s regional teams from across the US made up entirely of NSCRO student-athletes. The championship final will be held on Saturday May 30 as a curtain raiser for the New England Free Jacks’ last regular season match against Rugby ATL.

The partnership with the Free Jacks continues NSCRO’s affiliation with professional rugby organizations around the country.  Over the past two seasons, NSCRO hosted the championship with the Austin and Houston based MLR franchises.  NSCRO is excited to continue the relationship with professional rugby to produce a world class entertainment event and provide a framework of identification and development for collegiate athletes.

The championship will help us raise the profile of collegiate rugby, and aid in MLR’s identification of student-athletes looking to compete at the highest level of rugby in America in future years.”

The New England Free Jacks are one of three teams to begin their Inaugural Season in the third year of Major League Rugby. The New England based rugby team will play its home opener at Union Point Stadium in Weymouth, MA, on March 14th, St Patrick’s Day Weekend, against the Houston SaberCats.
