The Cape Town, South Africa native and Namibian international arrived in New England in 2022 after representing the University of Cape Town in the Varsity Cup and the Sharks XV in the 2019 Rugby Challenge. In 2022 he was called up by the Nambian national team and made his debut vs Spain before participating in the 2023 World Cup. In his rookie season for the Free Jacks Malan was named ‘Back of the Year’, and in 2023 he scored the match-winning try in the MLR Championship final.
