Alex Magleby

Alex Magleby is a driving force in American rugby and a leader in the sports entertainment business, currently serving as Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of the two-time Major League Rugby champion New England Free Jacks (2023, 2024) and former CEO of boutique sports events and advisory agency, Heritage Sports Ventures.

His remarkable rugby journey includes representing the USA as a player in both 7s (including multiple World Cups) and XVs (US Eagle #307), and captaining teams at all levels including his three-time national champion high school team Highland Rugby; his three-time Ivy Rugby champion alma mater Dartmouth College, as well as the US National Sevens team to a Rugby Wold Cup.

He then achieved success as a coach, leading Dartmouth College to eight Ivy League Championships and a five-year Ivy Rugby undefeated record before winning consecutive CRC national titles (2011, 2012) and becoming the first coach inducted into the CRC Hall of Fame, all while leading the build out of Sylvan Advantage, then the largest distributor of Sportscode video analytics solutions in North America.

After leading the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans to a historic series win over New Zealand Universities in 2011, he was appointment as Head Coach of the USA Men’s National Sevens Team in 2012, guiding them to a then-best ever finish on the World Rugby 7s Series.

Magleby served as General Manager for all USA Rugby High Performance from 2015 to 2018, leading both the men’s and women’s teams to the 2016 Rio Olympics, and Sevens World Series best ever finishes in 2018 with both teams finishing #2 globally. During that time the Men’s Eagles XVs recorded the first ever win against a “tier-one” country and the Women’s Eagles XVs took 5th place in the 2017 Rugby World Cup. The combined national teams’ successes remain unprecedented to this day.

Magleby serves on multiple non-profits, including Imagine Rugby, Free Jacks Foundation, and the Ford Sayre Ski Council, having previously co-founded the Golden Eagles and served on the USA Rugby Board of Directors.
