Taking a look back at the start of the Free Jacks 2024 Season and a Sneak-Peek at what’s to come at the 2024 Yacht Rock Festival on April 6th
The Free Jacks’ championship-defending campaign has started with a bang! The Free Jacks’ home-opener at Veterans Memorial Stadium began with the Champtober Fest and an exciting match versus Eastern Conference rivals, Old Glory DC.
Droves of supporters entered the grounds for the championship banner-celebrating beer fest that preluded the match. It was a Free Jacks’ version of Oktoberfest as fans new and old celebrated to the tunes of Tubafrau and tasted the best of local craft brews.
After a high-scoring affair with many Huzzahs roaring from the 1st Regiment and friends, New England swallowed a heart-breaking final-minute loss to Old Glory. This left Free Jacks fans hungry to reassemble at Fort Quincy for another fierce encounter with NOLA Gold the following week.
A beautiful blue sky and array of local rugby match-ups kicked off St. Patrick’s Day Weekend for the Free Jacks faithful. With fans settling in, the pints began to flow and the fiddles began to strum at the Forged Irish Stout Festival. Immersed in Celtic music, attendees were able to taste stouts, porters, and brews from the Emerald Isle and beyond its rocky shores.
Countless stunning Irish heritage-inspired Free Jacks kits filled the stands in a sea of green, as locals commemorated New England’s rich Irish American history. A jam-packed house and one of the loudest crowds ever inspired the team in green to come back from a 14-point deficit and beat NOLA in an exciting victory with numerous standout performances. Sealing a resounding victory in the second half, the Free Jacks demonstrated that conquering an away day in this “Dirty Old Town” is always a daunting challenge for visiting teams.
After a victorious away trip resulting in a 22-17 win versus a physical Chicago Hounds, the Free Jacks are home on a bye week and atop the Eastern Conference.
With the team back in Quincy, the festivities aren’t stopping anytime soon, as the Free Jacks faithful are only getting started!
